Is there any particle that is faster than light?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it possible for any particle to break the barrier?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

it is not possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

suppose if there is one, can you tell me at what condition it will happen? To put in other way, what stops the particle from breaking the barrier? (like is there any constraint on energy or mass?)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

The time-space continuum perhaps/? there are things that can travel faster than light , but they are not particles http://www.desy.de/user/projects/Physics/Relativity/SpeedOfLight/FTL.html#conclusion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks man i'll see to it

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

it is a great question , and i sorry i cant answer it more formally.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't there supposedly a neutrino that can go faster than light?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DamnedPhysics can you explain about neutrino ?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

CERN measured the neutrino's speed incorrectly. They made a mistake/ if a particle went faster than the speed of light in a vacuum it would have been traveling backwards in time
