How do I simplify: 3w-4/w^2+5w+4 + 2w-3/w^2+2w-8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 w - 4 2w - 3 ------------ + ----------- (w + 4)(w + 1) (w + 4)(w - 2) Now you need a common denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting the answer: 5w^2-9w-5/(w+1)(w+4)(1=2)... but the answer is 5w^2-11w+5/(w+1)(w+4)(w-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

common denominator is (w + 4)(w - 2)(w + 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(w - 2)(3w-4) (w + 1)(2w - 3) ------------- + ---------------- (w + 4)(w - 2)(w + 1) (w + 4)(w - 2)(w + 1) Now foil the tops

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OOPS first one is 3w^2 - 4w - 6w + 8 and the second one is 2w^2 - 3w + 2w -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so adding these 5w^2 -11w + 5 -------------- (w + 4)(w - 2)(w + 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh!! thank you!
