OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank, I just forgot how to do this 0.5774

OpenStudy (turingtest):

what place do we want to round it to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure but I should get a number like this X.xx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.58

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking that my my class mate got 1.73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can see how 3 times 0.5774 = 1.73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GT.don't understand so 0.58 and 1.73 can be the answer depending on how I am rounding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. I am saying you either remember the answer wrong or stated the problem wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She have 0.554 and round it to 1.73

OpenStudy (turingtest):

The number you want has two places after the decimal so it is rounded to the nearest thousandth. the correct answer is 0.58 To round the number to some particular decimal place look at the number just after the place you're rounding it to, and notice that it is a 7. This means we count it as ten (because it is larger than 5) and so we increase the number in the hundredths place by 1. If it was smaller than 5 we would have counted it as zero and ignored it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it could be wrong, thats why she asked me to check

OpenStudy (turingtest):

That is very wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot

OpenStudy (turingtest):

no prob
