a rectangular box has a square base and its height is 1cm longer than the length of one side of its base. a) if x cm is the length of one side of its base, show that its total surface area, A is given by A= 6x^2 +4x cm b) if the total box surface area is 240cm^2, find the dimensions of the box a rectangular box has a square base and its height is 1cm longer than the length of one side of its base. a) if x cm is the length of one side of its base, show that its total surface area, A is given by A= 6x^2 +4x cm b) if the total box surface area is 240cm^2, find the dimensions of the box @Mathematics

Through substitution you can create a formula for the surface area of the box and solve for x from that formula to put it into the area formula to find out the area. I can help if you're still having problems figuring it out =)

yeahh am kinda having trouble.. :/ i just dont really get it ha!

OpenStudy (kainui):

Alright so first off, what is the total surface area of the box in a formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it given by A =6x^2 +4x cm

OpenStudy (kainui):

Ahh my computer is running out of batteries one sec.
