If a protein is heated to a high temperature, what do you predict would be the most likely effect on the protein? The protein would become denatured, losing its shape, and would not be able to function properly. The protein would break apart into the individual amino acids that made up the protein. The protein would fold into a different shape and catalyze a different type of biochemical reaction. The protein would work more efficiently as the higher temperature increased the reaction rate.

Hey many of the proteins degrade at high temperatures. losing their 3D structures and which will lead to loss of function. but some of the proteins like hsp have the ability to function under such conditions

Just to put some words on. The protein's secondary- and tertiary structure changes/is lost, because non-covalent bonds (hydrophobic "bonds", hydrogen-bonds and ion-bonds) are destroyed.
