"An unknown number x is less than 3 but greater than 1." 1 < x < 3 1 x < 3 1 x 3 1 < x 3 "An unknown number x is less than 3 but greater than 1." 1 < x < 3 1 x < 3 1 x 3 1 < x 3 @Mathematics

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

"less than 3" means x < 3 and "greater than 1" means x > 1 which can be written as 1 < x So combine 1 < x and x < 3 to get the answer 1 < x < 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and there is supose to be negative 1 in all those

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no the answer is 1 < x < 3 and everything is positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh i see

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

then the answer is -1 < x < 3
