What was roosevelts philosophy behind preserving land?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There were two Roosevelts. You mean Theodore Roosevelt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First of all, once Roosevelt explored the West, he noticed how severely damaged was the natural habitat. Wildlife was basically gone (due to huntings and diseases). Roosevelt wanted to start the preservation of the land as soon as possible. He created the U.S. Forest Service and established many national parks and forests. Theodore Roosevelt managed to conserve approximately 230,000,000 acres of public land. So, I would say that his philosophy was all about being distraught by the awful situation in the natural habitat. He wanted it to look better for the sake of the wildlife and the American lands.
