What is the function of centrioles and in which type of eukaryotic cell are they NOT present?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"A centriole is a barrel-shaped cell structure found in most animal eukaryotic cells, though it is absent in higher plants and most fungi. Centrioles are involved in the organization of the mitotic spindle and in the completion of cytokinesis. Centrioles are a very important part of centrosomes, which are involved in organizing microtubules in the cytoplasm. The position of the centriole determines the position of the nucleus and plays a crucial role in the spatial arrangement of the cell." (source: wiki)

thank you! :)

OpenStudy (geometry_hater):

It would be Cell Wall probably since centrisoles are in animal eukaryotic cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The centriole plays a very important role in mitotic cell division.
