whats lko lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
idk i just typed something lol how do you solve for a?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh lol...to solve for a you want to get it on one side of the equal sign by itself...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so would you divide 200 by 1-0.15?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to make it a = 200/1-.15

OpenStudy (anonymous):
how would you cancel the 1-0.15 on the side that it's originally on
OpenStudy (anonymous):
subtract a/1-0.15?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but if thats the case you would cancel out the a too so idk
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you want the a to stay on that side...so in order to get rid of the 1-0.15...you have to multiply a/1-0.15 by 1-0.15 and that will cancel it out and leave you with the a...then you have to multiply the other side by 1-0.15
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so you have a=200(1-0.15)

correct
OpenStudy (anonymous):
which equals 170
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes ma'am...now in order to find the second term you have to multiply your answer by the common ratio and that will give you the second term
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i think i got it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
just remember when you are trying to get one side by itself you just do the opposite of whatever you are trying to move..
