does anyone have time to help me with a word problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shoot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, same problem. #13. like i don;t know how to calculate it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah yes I missed your reply. Using the formula you gave me, input the numbers from the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

e.g. how far did he move and how long did it take?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.5 / 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He moves 2m in 4 seconds, do you agree? If so, what is then the speed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but isn't it first 1.5 divided by 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 2 / 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then; 2.5 / 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 3/ 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. Remember we said that if the slope stays the same then that means the speed stays the same? 0.5 is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh, then why is it 2 /4 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The y axis is position, so he starts out at 1m and move to 3m, so he has travelled a total of 2m. On the x axis he started at time = 0 and finished at time = 4 so he took 4s. Hence he took 4s to travel 2m, meaning his speed is 0.5metres per second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't it be 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since thats where it stopped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but he started at 1, so if he stopped at 3, he only moved 2metres

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i see it! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)
