Could somebody explain Competitive and noncompetitive inhibiters to me? i am at a GCSE higher science level, so bear that in mind when you answer!

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

yes I can

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

LOL jk

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

A competitive inhibitor is a substrate that binds to the active site. A non-competitive inhibitor does not bind at the active site but other locations of the enzyme/protein. This usually cause a conformational change of the shape of the enzyme which lowers the affinity binding of the substrate to the active site. I can go into more details but I think this is as simple as I can explain it. [credential] Currently taking Biochemistry 651 and I have an A in the class.
