It would be nice to be able to copy a drawing from one question to another. there are cases where someone wants to ask multiple questions all of which relate to the same drawing (e.g. a drawn graph). these users are tempted to ask all their questions in the same thread because of the lack of this feature.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

when a drawing is first created, it appears as a set of weird looking characters within the response box. making this available for copying after the drawing has been submitted would meet the need.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried to do so, but it works only for same question

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

@Tomas.A - do you mean you tried to copy the "weird characters" from one question to another and that did not work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

hmmm... maybe the code gurus of this site can think of a way of achieving this...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, sadly you can't copy SVG vector data (the odd numbers you're seeing) because the inputs don't support raw HTML in questions. This would be a great feature to see at some point!

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

An alternative might be to improve the drawing tool. The reason for copying a drawing across (I think) is because it is so difficult to create one using the current toolset.

OpenStudy (espex):

Another alternative for the interim, assuming you use FF, is to try the addon called lightshot, http://lightshot.skillbrains.com/ It produced the following image from a selection you choose. http://prntscr.com/4f7a8

OpenStudy (espex):

The attachment did not load the url as I had hoped, disregard it.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Hmm... Interesting. Can you post an example of two questions where you would have wanted to copy the characters from one to the other?

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Sorry, a drawing from one to the other**

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

@shadowfiend: this is the thread of the user I was helping where she wanted to ask more questions on the same topic but didn't want to post them as new questions because she found it difficult to draw the graph in question: http://openstudy.com/users/asnaseer#/updates/4edba9fbe4b01b4ec4925494

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Got it. That's an excellent use case, thanks.
