why did world war 2 start???
hitler broke the treaty of Versailles by refusing to pay war reparations from WWI and built up an army for Germany
Its a much more complicated answer than that, It would take more than a single post. Let me know.
Germany was late to the party in becoming a nation state, many Germans had a bit of an inferiority complex, in part this led to WWI. After WWI the French made sure the Germans, who had kind of owned them militarialy since the Germans became a modern nation, had to pay dearly for WWI. The treaty of Versailles was very punitive and put Germany in an impossible situation, requiring them to pay way too much money back to France and Britain for being the "bad guys" of WWI. Also they were put under many restrictions and treated badly by the winners of WWI. Then the whole worlds economy went into a depression, Germany was became in a very bad economic condition, experiencing high unemployment and hyperinflation. Many young men in Germany, without hope, or any job to do, became fertile ground for the rise of the NAZI party, and its ideology of German superiority, and the need for German expansion, under its leader Hitler.
Germany began building weapons, guns, tanks and airplanes, despite the restrictions in the treaty prohibiting these actions. By directing the country in this effort, the German economy became one of the best in the world at the time when other countries were suffering. These weapons, guns, tanks, and airplanes were not made for nothing. Hitler managed to work the political system in place to put himself in control of Germany, with those who belonged to the Nazi party being put in all the positions of power. Hitler turned Germany into a police state, killing all who opposed him, spoke against him, or disagreed with him. His first move was to take over Austria politically, then he invaded Poland and the War began.
