Hi I'm really struggling in my calc class rite now... in the mean value theorem, what is C? the critical point? or does it stand for something else?

OpenStudy (mr.math):

c is a point in the open interval (a,b) such that \(f'(c)=\frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :D so like C is always exactly in the middle? or it just has to be in between A and B?

OpenStudy (mr.math):

It's just bewtween a and b, it can be closer to one of them.

OpenStudy (mr.math):

between*

OpenStudy (mr.math):

You should work an example, it will help you understand the concept more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you :)
