4x + 2y=7 2x + y=5 ,,,,,,,please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first equation implies that 2x+y should equal 3.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and that contradicts the second equation

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4.2.7 ----- = 2.1.c 2 they are thesame and differ by a constant

OpenStudy (amistre64):

separate parallel lines

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we cant get the value x and y??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. There are no values of x and y that answer the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, lumenaire has clearly explained why.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u sure about that???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

akmalchan: multiply both sides of the second equation by 2. what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+2y = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+2y cant be both 10 and 7 at the same time. therefore the equations contradict each other. So there is no answer that fulfills both equations at the same time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if 4x + 2y is 10, then we can get an answer.
