I'm new to this course... seems like much of the content of the first problems set of Bio 7.013 is not covered by the readings or the audio lectures. Am I missing some content somewhere? Are there course handouts that I didn't get?
Hello. In the course features you can find assigments or exams with or without solutions. All the problems sets of that course already have solutions, and they are on PDF format. Click here and you'll see ;): http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/biology/7-013-introductory-biology-spring-2006/assignments/ps3s05a.pdf
Thanks for the quick reply. I've downloaded all the problem set PDFs and answer sheets. Trouble is, there's material that's covered there that hasn't been presented in the lectures or reading. For example, how many base pairs in the human genome or when did homo sapiens evolve? I can find that info just about anywhere online... but it wasn't covered in the course material through session 5 when the problems were "due". I feel like I'm missing some course content, and that's making me anxious about upcoming quizzes and the final exam... to say nothing of whether I'm learning everything I'm supposed to be learning from the course.
I recommend you read Biology by Frank Sochacki, or visit websites such as http://www.sciencemag.org/, http://www.newscientist.com/, http://www.nature.com/scitable, these are reliable sources.
