Why am I not good in math? :'( Is it just because I'm born with it or can I do something-- ANYTHING I can do?
I'm always getting 60s in my math tests, and I feel like dropping my course to mixed math (University mixed with College). I'm currently taking University gr. 11 Functions because I'll be able to take Calculus & Adv. Functions next year... but I don't know anymore. I don't want to disappoint my parents because I know we immigrated here in Canada for their children to become successful, and I feel like being weak in math is a disgrace... For those of you who think only "asians" are good in math-- sometimes I believe so 'cause I'm Filipino. Anyway, my parents are both engineers back home and I don't get it. My mom says all it takes is practice but sigh. I don't know. :'( Any advice? Tips? Gladly appreciate it.
I have a strong math brain, that's why I decided to become an engineer. Regardless, math still requires lots of practice and repetition to understand the fundamentals. Back in freshman and sophomore years of college, when I was taking Calculus I,II, and III and differential equations, I practiced working the problems numerous times. I probably spent 5 hours a week working through problems. The same applies to everything you learn. Practice makes perfect. My advice. Practice. Practice. Practice. Very few people are just "naturally" good at something. All the others work hard and practice a lot to achieve success.
