Choose the system of equations which matches the following graph: I will try to attach the graph.. thank you for helping 2x + 5y = 10 4x + 10y = 20 **************** 2x + 5y = 10 4x – 10y = 20 ********************* 2x – 5y = 10 4x + 10y = 20 ************** 2x – 5y = 10 4x – 10y = 20

it is something like this..

I have to choose but I dont know which one

From the graph, we see that the x-intercept must equal 5 and the y-intercept must equal 2. Additionally, there is a negative slope. We can write the equation of the line given in the graph in intercept form as \[{x \over a} + {y \over b} = 1\]where a is the x-int and b is the y-int. From the given graph this becomes \[{x \over 5} + {y \over 2} = 1\]Let's multiply all terms by 10 to remove the denominators. We get \[2x + 5 y = 10\]

ok thank u.. but what about the second part? 10y or -10y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All four of those systems of equations represent only one equation each. Take the first one for example. We have \[\begin{matrix}2x + 5y = 10 & ~~ [1] \\ 4x+10y = 20 & ~~ [2]\end{matrix}\]Notice that [2] is [1]*2. Therefore, they are the same line.
