Compare and contrast what happens in mitosis and meiosis and discuss the importance of each process to a living organism.

OpenStudy (aroub):

Okay, do you have ANY idea about this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no thats why i post them lol

OpenStudy (aroub):

lol ok :) i'm going to try to write some of what i remember...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok no problem

OpenStudy (aroub):

meiosis mitosis 1. A cell splits into two identical cells. 1. A cell division whereby one cell divides into four new cells (gametes) . 2. each new cell receives the exact number 2. gametes produced during meiosis of chromosomes as the cell from which is originated contain half the number of chromosomes of the parent cells. and for the importance to the living organisms i really don't know EXACTLY what to say in this... =( it's just IMPORTANT lol well here: ( I got this from few websites... ) *with out meiosis you would not be able to have kids and with out mitosis if you got a cut it would never heal because the skin cells would never grow back... also you wouldn't be able to grow Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_the_process_of_mitosis_and_meiosis_are_both_important_to_a_living_organism#ixzz1gY8hCYvM *Meiosis is important because it allows for a larger amount of genetic diversity than mitosis does. If you have two organisms combining their genes as opposed to just making a copy of yourself with the occasional mutation, the species with meiosis would be more likely to survive and differentiate, maybe become more complex. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_the_process_of_meiosis_important_to_living_organism I REALLY hope this helps somehow! :D

loved it :)

OpenStudy (aroub):

Sorry, i just reread it and the the word came to meiosis and some word came to mitosis! the one i'm going to write down is the right one :) the part of the mitosis: 1. A cell splits into two identical cells. 2. each new cell receives the exact number of chromosomes as the cell from which it originated. meiosis : 1. A cell division whereby one cell divides into four new cells (gametes) 2. gametes produced during meiosis contain half the number of chromosomes of the parent cells. And the rest is good! :D Sorry, i have to go to sleep now =( i hope someone will come and help you with the others... Bye & Good luck :D .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks goodnight

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In what phase of meiosis are tetrads of homologous pairs lined up along the center of the cell and attached to the spindle fibers? Anaphase I Metaphase II Metaphase I Anaphase II

Using specific events in the formation of gametes and zygotes, describe why there is a greater diversity in sexual reproduction than in asexual reproduction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um, @confused33 I know you need help w/ this Biology question from FLVS, but, I don't think this is the right place for this question. Try asking it in a new question maybe? :-)

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Cheating much @rebeccaxhawaii X'D

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

wait what ? @just_one_last_goodbye

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

I see you XD
