g/10=10/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to cross multiply?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Use exactly the same trick as the last problem.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

In the denominator 5 ---> 10, multiplying by 2 So in the numerator 10 ----> g, multiplying by 2. So g = ?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

what answer do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (jamesj):

No....that's not right. We MULTIPLIED by 2, not divided by 2.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

\[ \frac{10}{5} = \frac{2 \times 10}{2 \times 5} = \frac{g}{10} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 20

OpenStudy (jamesj):

yes, 20.

OpenStudy (jamesj):

what is 10/5 in its simplest form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i have a lot of math to do and i didnt mean to put 5 i meant 20

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Here's another way to do the same problem: 10/5 = 10 divided by 5 = 2. So with g/20 = g divided by 10 = 2. So we want to know the number g when divided by 10 gives 2. That's obviously 20. 20 divided by 10 is 2.

Thanks i need some help in math because right now I have to do 5 lessons of it with 30 questions each then 6 test 20 questions each

OpenStudy (jamesj):

I'm all for explaining these things so you can learn how to do them yourself. Anyway. Move on to your next problem and only post it if you're really stuck or want to check your answer.
