what is the difference between computer architecture and computer organization?

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

I would guess that architecture would refer to how the various hardware components are build and organization side would explain how those components come together to form a cohesive whole. But at my university they were taught in the same class so the line seems fuzzy to me.

Architecture refers to the internal structure/organisation of your computer and the flow of information and work. There are different ways to describe the architecture, one being as a series of layers starting with the physical hardware linking to the BIOS and other drivers then the operating system and finally the running application. Another way is to look at the way instruction sets are organised, this is part of the system architecture. Perhaps your "computer organisation" refers to the way things are externally networked?????
