Write an equation of the line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the given line . (1,7), -6x+y=-1

hero (hero):

What does isaidrawr mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hero, would you help ?

hero (hero):

You can help too FFM :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know, but I don't want to intrude Mighty Hero :D

hero (hero):

Intrude? I hadn't started helping yet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha , iSaidRAWR is from this name my friend gave me a long time ago .

hero (hero):

What Lagrange did was obvious intrusion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree, and I do that sometime too without much thinking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did my problem turn into a conversation ?

hero (hero):

lol, idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol, that's what we often do in OS :D

hero (hero):

Well, we know the slope is 6 since they are both parallel

hero (hero):

so now, it's just a matter of using the point-slope form

hero (hero):

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Btw two lines are parallel then the equation would be for the form: ax +by =c ax+by =m so the only change in the constant term. Can you do the rest ?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

herp come plz http://openstudy.com/#/updates/4eee2863e4b0367162f5c4e4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HERO no need of point slope buddy ;)

hero (hero):

Well, that's just the way that I solve these.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

although that might give a deeper understanding ..

hero (hero):

As long as the answer is correct at the end and steps are shown, I wouldn't care if I was a teacher.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

FFM wht is another way ??

hero (hero):

He already posted it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, now simple substitute and find the constant term and you are done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot all about this problem . . .Oops .

hero (hero):

Yeah, I get it. There are two ways to do it. Either way doesn't matter. I use both ways sometimes
