For a triangle with sides a, b and c, what is the range of the length of side c? a = 620, b = 1050, c = ______<c<______ would it be 430< c< 1670

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Correct! The reason is because any two sides of a triangle must be greater than the third side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok whenever you do this prob. is it the lowest # goes first and the highest goes last? bcause i always have problems with it

OpenStudy (mathmate):

If it is exactly the same problem, then the lower range is the difference, and the upper range is the sum of the two sides.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

But they canNOT be equal.
