how does aerobic respiration in plants compare to aerobic respiration in animals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in main parts, it does not at all. there is one thing though that divides plants from animals. and this is the glyoxylate cycle. this is part of the krebs cycle in PLANTS. isocitrate condenses with acetyl-CoA, glyoxylate is cleaved off. the other product, malate, can be transformed into PEP and undergo gluconeogenesis. sounds abstract, but animals can not build sugar from fat. not, like in, ever. plants on the other hand have two nifty little enzymes that can actually do that! so, technically, plants are superior to animals in terms of metabolism, because while we get just fat, plants can build sugar, yeah!
