OpenStudy (jamesj):

(Too hard to write this in German:) He basically uses a 'top-down' methodology to argue there must be life; he uses the actual numbers here, I just can't remember them: "There are x billion galaxies, each with y billion stars, giving xy billion billion stars. "If only p % of them have planets and only q % of those planets are viable for life, and if even only on r% of those life has arisen, and then only s% of those have arisen to consciousness and intelligence... "...then we're still left with a staggering number of planets on which there must be intelligent life." I'll see if I can find a video. The point is, he was making this argument decades before we had found these planets. The fact that we now have, gives further ground for his argument. It's exciting.
