OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would you graph the absolute value equation. y=-[2x+3]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its appears to be linear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it start at -5 going up or down. or 5 going up or down?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did the 5 come from?

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

does [ ] mean absolute value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have 4 answers and thats how the graphs start.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

their like v graphs

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

y= |x| ... y only has positive values so it will be a ‘V’ at the origin

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

that graph is not right

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

y = 2|x| will be a sharper V

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

y= -2|x| will be the mirror image ^

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

y=-2|x| + k will be translated(moved) along the y axis by k|dw:1324535002959:dw|

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

y= -2|x-h| will be translated along the x-axis by h|dw:1324535250374:dw|
