Which answer correctly compares the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain? Answer Both are aerobic and focus on breaking down organic molecules. Both are aerobic and occur inside the mitochondria. Both occur in the cytoplasm and result in producing more ATP. Both occur in the mitochondria and result in producing more ATP.
They both take place in the mitochondrium, that's for sure. And they both result in energy extraction, producing more ATP. The Krebs cycle also isn't aerobic (many forget that!), so your answer is D.
My answer is B. Both cycles are aerobic and occur in mitochondria. It can't be D because it is not true that both cycles result in producing more ATP. ETC produces the most number of ATPs (If I'm not mistaken, the ETC produces 32 ATPs), and the krebs cycle produces only 2.
Schleifspur, where did you get the idea that the Krebs isn't aerobic? It was from you that the krebs, together with the ETC, occurs in the mitochondrion. And there is oxygen in the mitochondrion, isn't there? And if there is the presence of oxygen, wouldn't be the processes inside the mitochondrion be aerobic?
Thank you
