i dont understand the first steps to doing a problem about slopes
what is the problem?
Find the slope of y = –2x + 3
Well all you need to do to solve this problem is know that the formula for a slope int what is called "slope-intercept form" is\[y=mx+b\]where x and y are variables b is the y-intercept and... m is the slope so what is m in your equation?
*in what is called
i dont get it
need more help
all you need to do is identify the form your equation is \[y=-2x+3\]the general form is\[y=mx+b\]where m is the slope. So can you identify which number is "m" in your equation? Because that is the slope :)
e.g. in\[y=5x-7\]\[b=-7\]and\[m=5\]in your problem you have\[y=-2x+3\]\[b=3\]so\[m=?\]
is 2
almost, but don't ignore the - sign! so it should be...?
3
no, you were closer before, but I said don't ignore the minus sign, not use the other number (3 is your b)! one last try: m should be...?
5
no getting colder... Let me draw something out|dw:1324664958948:dw|the first formula is the general form where m is the slope, we want to match the m in the general formula to the number in yours. First I will show you how we can see what b is...
