PROJECTILE MOTION-Why isn't there any accelertion in the x direction while there is an acceleration of -g in the y direction?

because the acceleration due to gravity force has no x-axis component. although the projectile is moving on x-axis, the weight is always the same

oh! so that means the acc. due to gravity (g) has only y component that is it acts downwards only and not horizontally therefore the acceleration due to gravity for the x component is zero.

You can have an acceleration in the "x" however it is not due to gravity. Air friction will provide the force that slows the projectile down horizontally however this effect is often neglected as it makes a mess of the nice negative quadratic.

remember accceleration is the rate at which velocity changes,so if an object moves in the x direction with certain V over time t,then there is acceleration in that direction
