im am a new b and i want to learn about science. what is the smallest particle that we know of today ? btw im only 12
electron, althought they are trying to prove smaller are out there.
also i've asked a question on electrons - i want to know what they are made of
Electrons are much smaller than protons and neutrons which are all three subatomic particles (just the three main parts of every atom) but it doesn't stop there. Perhaps you've heard of the Large Hadron Collider made by CERN? It propels atoms near the speed of light towards each other so they collide and smash apart into quarks and even tinier particles. Smaller than that even is where string theory tries to explain that those particles are made up of tiny vibrating strings, but that's more theoretical than proven facts. Try google or wikipedia on any of these things to find out more, or ask and I'll try to answer with what limited knowledge I know.
thank you VERY MUCH for your answer it is a great help
Glad I could help! There's so much out there for mankind to figure out!
yes im very curious of science and am very keen on learning new things
One of the best websites for learning things is www.khanacademy.org you should definitely work on the math activities there and work your way up to calculus! Calculus is probably one of the most important things to understand for physics and also one of the most interesting things about math because it involves dividing by zero! The more you learn the more you'll understand how biology is based on chemistry, chemistry is based on physics, physics is based on math, and math leads you to all sorts of interesting philosophical questions. Is math invented by people or discovered by people? The more you learn the more fascinating it becomes!
the smallest particles are the quarks

Don't worry i think Qasim had his 13th birthday after he started this thread
atleast thats what he told me
I agree that we should adhere to the terms and conditions of the site, but if someone /slightly/ younger shows an interest in the subject then I don't think we should discourage them from using this site. Curiosity developed at an early age is a very good thing.
Indeed. Luckily he turned 13 immediately after starting this thread and isn't going to flaunt being only 12 around anymore ;)
