How do u do absolute value please help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

absolute value is how far a number is from zero. it's always positive

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

I-2I =for absolute value what ever in it should be positive(I2I)

here try this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here try this problem\[l -4 l\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Here's what you want to think about absolute value: |x| means I'm thinking of a number that is exactly 3 units from 0. So clearly that could be 3 or -3 which therefore means that |3|=3 and |-3| = 3 since both are 3 units from 0.

|dw:1325525878743:dw|well then what would that be

OpenStudy (mertsj):

so if you have |x+3|=7 that means that x+3 could be 7 or x+3 could be -7 because both are exactly 7 units from 0. Then you solve those two equations to find that x could be 4 or -10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

! x ! if x =+3 value of the above absolute !x! is+ 3 if x = -3 value of ! x! is also +3 - the absolute value will always be positive ! is not correct notation - its not on my keyboard
