How can the carbon in sediments reach the atmosphere? A.decomposition, fossil fuel formation, fossil fuel emissions B.decomposition, diffusion, evaporation C.cellular respiration, diffusion, transpiration D.photosynthesis, organic carbon, cellular respiration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as carbon( from atmosphere in the form of CO2 it takes) is converted into carbohydrate and become inorganic matter then by cellular respiration it got converted into CO2 then by repiration it goes into atmosphere

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Unfortunately you are wrong Heena, for the carbon to originate from sediments the first step cannot be photosynthesis as plants gain their carbon from the atmosphere. The answer is A, using petrol as an example an ancient forest becomes a part of say, ocean sediments. These sediments then decay over time (with the help of heat and pressure) they form petroleum. From there the liquid is extracted by humans, in its hydrocarbon form it is burnt and the carbon is released into the atmosphere in the form of CO2.
