Oh snap fellas, this one's been building up a while!

- Profile tooltips now include fan testimonials.
- Fix a bug where a user's current action wasn't showing up properly in profile tooltips.
- Fix a bug where very tall windows wouldn't give access to all online users.
- More fixes for chat staying pinned to the bottom when you are scrolled there.
- Fix a bug where you could post an empty question if it just had spaces or tabs.
- Fixed some bugs with marking questions answered.
- Hide moderation buttons for your own tooltip.
- The signup username field is no longer selected by default in popups.
- Report abuse button is always rendered for chat (including for moderators, who also get the delete button).
- If you enter a question directly and are not logged in, clicking the Sign Up button on the top right of the page, you are properly scrolled to the signup form.

And the biggies:
- A BRAND NEW LANDING PAGE WHOO. Check it out at http://openstudy.com/ .
- You can now mark a question as a “good question” by clicking the Good Question button. This works just like good answer medals; giving a medal to a poster is marking the question a “good question”. Good question medals do not mark a question answered. We've got more work planned in this department, but wanted to get it in your hands as soon as possible :)

We've got another piece of awesome coming out either this weekend or on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled! We ain't been sitting around all Christmas break doing nothin' ;)

Sometimes people who ask questions should get rewarded right? You know if they figure out their own question before some else does or if they are going in the right direction or if they did something really great on their own.

I think you should also fix another bug - whenever we receive a notification about someone answering a question, the profile pic and username doesn't seem to match correctly.

pratu - We have a handful of bugfixes, but I think we'll keep the new features we're coming out with under wraps. At least, I want to do that because I've been working on them and I don't want to spoil the surprise. I'll give you a hint. When chris asked me to implement those features, I told him that it would take 2 hours. Ended up taking a lot longer. hahaha

I still think posts should have a fluid mechanical appeal within threads; like moving posts via groups that would be a awesome feature. Well, I hope things get better with Open study, it's been like a second home to me. Really, awesome!

With all due respect I mean technically that posts be moved from one group to another. Scenario A; Mike posts a question in a Writing group and decides he doesn't want to be in that group anymore and joins the Physics group. He would also like to review these question and steps to the solution but realizes he not the physics group anymore. If he could move posts through groups then he would simply move the post to the desired group, Physics. Thank you!

So it has to be related then let's say Scenario B; between related groups such as Math and physics or calculus and differential equations, maybe sub-groups of a larger group. The reason is this, say there are not many people in one related group and the member has excluded he or herself or has been excluded from the initial group still needs his or her postings from the thread in the initial group and does not have these postings in the thread in the related new group her or he becomes a member of.

Yes. Moving questions is a better idea though, especially if we restrict it to moderators (so rather than warning people/deleting, they can just mention that the post belongs in X group and then move it there).

As to on-topicness, yes. Any group with a white logo (black in the group chooser) is an “official” OpenStudy topic group, and we keep the questions in those on topic and good. OpenStudy Feedback we're much more lenient with, though we still want topic questions (e.g., math) to be posted in those groups (mostly because they'll get better help there). As for groups created by users, we generally let those users moderate the content they're okay with, except for abusive content (attacks, impoliteness, inappropriate language, etc).

That's a moderation approach that's taken by a handful of other sites with varying levels of success. So, it's an idea that's on our radar. As to whether or not we'll go with that option, that's something we're going to need to consider and weigh against all of the other available options.

About this update, I think removing the ability for people to give the asker medals is a very bad thing, it removes the ability to reward someone for working out the answer to their own question.
