I need to substract 2- 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when subtracting with fractions both terms need to have the same denomanator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the same denomantor here wld be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i only have 2 - 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 can also be written as 2/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i got that result?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5/3 is the correct answer but in order to get the answer u wld first need to get the same denmanator and then u can subtract

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2/1)-(1/3) so 3 wld be the same denomanator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks to all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u wld multiply the first term the top and the bottom by 3 and then u can subtract and then u wld get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure if I got it right.. but 2-1/3 is 5/3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but did u remember to get the same denomanator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be then 2/3 - 1/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope (2/1)*(3/3)=6/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you multiply the top an bottom. which would make it 6/3-1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it .now thanks again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u guys are awesome, thanks
