What are the x– and y–intercepts of the graph of y = 2x2 – 8x – 10? x–intercepts: (–1, 0) and (–5, 0) y–intercept: (0, 5) x–intercepts: (1, 0) and (–5, 0) y–intercept: (0, 10) x–intercepts: (–1, 0) and (5, 0) y–intercept: (0, 5) x–intercepts: (–1, 0) and (5, 0) y–intercept: (0, –10)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You can find the x intercept by letting y = 0 and you can find the y intercept by letting 2 = 0. Can you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the answers are above but im not sure of the answer

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Take the equation and replace y with 0 and you get: 2x^2 -8x-10=0 Now factor out the common factor of 2 and tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get question one as the answer is that correct?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

No

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If you replace x with -5, you will not get 0

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Also if you replace x with 0 you will not get 5

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So can you factor out the 2 like I said?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh the answer is c?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Please answer my question. You are guessing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

noo im really not

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So how did you get C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dunno im really confused
