So im having a presentation about the flag of france on wednesday, does anyone know something worth including?
what do you already have?
During WW2, the French Resistance added the Cross of Lorraine to the white section to distinguish themselves from Vichy France who collaborated with the Axis.
i thought you said about THE FLAG of france... is it just about france or both? im lost
A new government based at Vichy was formed after the Germans defeated France. But the French Resistance, among many others, saw the Vichy government as collaborators with the Germans. The Vichy kept the original tricolor since the government considered itself the successor to the last administration, but the Resistance added the cross to let people know they did not support them.
"It can be said that the colors of the Flag are basically those of Paris that were used on the day of the storming of the Bastille. The Flag was created in the year 1790. An interesting fact is that the colors of the flag were the reverse of what they are today. Red was at the hoist. In the present France flag, Blue is at the hoist. The flag was revised to its present form, four year later in 1794. " - http://www.mapsofworld.com/france/facts/national-flag.html
well you can say that the flag is a tricolor of three vertical bands coloured royal blue (hoist side), white, and red. It is known to English speakers as the French Tricolour or simply the Tricolour. info on france can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France
