terrestrial plants have stomata on the surface of their leaves.a single stoma is surronded by two gaurd cells that change shape in response to enviromental factors and open or close the stoma. how is the structure of the leaf used in this process?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well u know xylem brach also goes to leaves in form of veins and get attach to cell and opening and closing of stomata depends on the amount of water it bears in excess it opens due to pressure at mean while gases are also exchange

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but dont carbon dioxide enter the plant through thesurface of the leaf for celluar respiration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i m giving u example our skin is also made up of cells y dont gases diffuse??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

luk in leaf cells are not in direct contact with air that why there is a specialised cell known as stomata are found whether if tems becomes woody there we found lenti cells as stomata is found in green parts where primary growth takes place ok while lenti cells are found where secondary growth takes place means u can say woody area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooo ok i get it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) any more doubt just ask it ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mainly for gaseous exchange
