Number 16

hero (hero):

A = 4 B = -1/2

hero (hero):

I don't know why this course introduces these strange A and B formulas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't either

hero (hero):

Don't they explain why they introduce such formulas when you're in class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ive only had this class 3 days so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and -1/2 arent the answers by the way

OpenStudy (mertsj):

The given line y=2x has slope 2 so the slope of the perpendicular is -1/2. Also the perpendicular contains (5,15). So let us plug that information into the equation they gave us for the perpendicular. y=A+B(x-3) 15=A-1/2(5-3) 15=A-1/2(2) 15=A-1 16=A So the answer is A = 16 and B = -1/2

hero (hero):

For some reason, I thought the point was 5,3.

Thanks Mertsj
