Simplify completely Pic Provided.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here are my choices

OpenStudy (istim):

HAve yo ustarted the work at least?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know to factor but im not sure what to do after that.

OpenStudy (istim):

Do you know about simple, complex, etc trinomials? Also, cause I'm not too bright, what's factoring.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

er i don't think i know how to do this sorry XD

OpenStudy (istim):

IT's alright. But you didn't have to tell us.

OpenStudy (istim):

Anyways, show me your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just a sec

OpenStudy (istim):

I can wait.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can only factor the tops im not sure how to do the bottoms.

OpenStudy (istim):

The bottom left is very simple.

OpenStudy (istim):

You know that the numbers produced from that equation must Add to the middle coefficient and multiply to the end coefficient, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1327524386312:dw|

OpenStudy (istim):

But since their is a coefficient on the first value too, whatever numbers are produced my multiply to the result of the multiplication of the beginning and ending values.

OpenStudy (istim):

So, what multiplies to 3x5, and adds to 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did you get 3x5?

OpenStudy (istim):

Teh last value multiplied by the first value. Do you have a textbook or listen in class? If you have a class which you could have listened to (I'm not judging, just making sure here).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im in flvs i dont have anyone to listen to and my lessons are very vague. i need to have more of an explanation than what im given.

OpenStudy (istim):

I dunno what flvs are. Not textbook?

OpenStudy (istim):

Anyways, do you have a solution to my problem?

OpenStudy (istim):

Are you here? IF not, I'll be leaving.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

noi dont have a solution

OpenStudy (istim):

"So, what multiplies to 3x5, and adds to 8?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 3 adn 5. cause 3 and 5 multiply to 15 but they add to make 8, right?

OpenStudy (istim):

Correct!

OpenStudy (istim):

You have the solution for your answer of the bottom left.

OpenStudy (istim):

sorta.

OpenStudy (istim):

Here's what it looks like: \[5x ^{2}-5x-3x+3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHHH i get it!!!!

OpenStudy (istim):

Oh ho ho. Do you know what to do next here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor, right?

OpenStudy (istim):

Show me the steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 5(x^3)-3^2(x) i think...

OpenStudy (istim):

You got some values mixed up there, but very close.

OpenStudy (istim):

\[(5x-3)(x-1)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i knew that.

OpenStudy (istim):

The way you typed that made it incorrect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know. i was bein sarcastic when i said i knew that.

OpenStudy (istim):

IT's hard to understand internet sarcasm. Anyways, just do the same thing for the other equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you i think i can finish it from here. Thank you so much!!!

OpenStudy (istim):

Also, if, on the same fraction, you see 2 similar values (e.g. (x-1)), you can cancel both of them out, and cross them how to simplify further.

OpenStudy (istim):

Yeah. Good work. BATMAN AWAY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much
