Why is it that threads are faster to create than processes? What advantage do kernel threads provide over user threads

Procees consistss of several threads ,so process takes more time.There is no hard and fast rule to say the advantages of kernel threads over user threads its all depends on the requirement .Generally kernel threads are useful in the place where some privileged operation have to be performed.

Threads share the same address space, while processes require their own address space. However, on Linux and certain other operating systems, forked processes use COW, which means they share memory until one of the processes attempts to write to it. That makes forking essentially equally fast, if I remember correctly.
