how to use infinity on a ti-89 calculator?

hero (hero):

What are you trying to use it to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

integral from 0 to infinity

OpenStudy (nottim):

I don't think that's necessary.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how so?

OpenStudy (nottim):

Couldn't you just use a really high number, e.g. 999 as a substitute?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or use something like 50,100,150, 200, etc

OpenStudy (nottim):

Gimme a minute though, I'll see if there's anything pertaining to exactly what you want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i still get the same thing as

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends on the speed of your calcu.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wolfram alpha is amazing... may i just add that. im allowed to compute all my derivatives integrals and stuff in my calculator but for some reason it does not like to do integrals, especally if it has logs in it

OpenStudy (nottim):

Does that work, AJTurnbull? The link (which I guess is not a very reputable source).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it does not work

OpenStudy (nottim):

Argh.

OpenStudy (nottim):

I'm going to run an emulator now for testing. gimme a sec.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh oh oh nvm there is a infinity button on the calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its on the catalog button on the TI-89

OpenStudy (nottim):

Woo! Problem solved. You didn't even need us.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you guys helped get the gear turning

OpenStudy (nottim):

Lol. Whatever. Keep up the good work though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on my calculator i used only from 0 to 50 and the answer is 1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good luck now AJ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey mark if you wouldn't mind explaining how you are getting that, on my calculator i enter it and it does not work. i think my settings are wrong because my answers look 0b1 which i have never seen before
