Please help me in factoring this expression: 25a^2 - 9b^2 - c^2 + 6bc.

OpenStudy (king):

(5a)^2-(3b-c)^2 =(5a+3b-c)(5a-3b+c)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get 3(b - c)^2?

OpenStudy (lalaly):

\[25a^2-(c^2-6bc+9b^2)\]\[25a^2-(c-3b)^2\]

OpenStudy (king):

no its 3b-c

OpenStudy (lalaly):

\[(5a+3b-c)(5a-3b+c)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it 3b - c or c - 3b?

OpenStudy (king):

yeah i gave the same thing...pratu use a-b whole square formula.....3b-c

OpenStudy (lalaly):

he didnt factor out the minus sign like i did

OpenStudy (king):

i did

OpenStudy (lalaly):

so it doesnt matter, both work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You both got the same answer.

OpenStudy (king):

why cant it be -(9b^2+c^2-6bc)?

OpenStudy (lalaly):

its the same:S

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks lalaly and king.

OpenStudy (king):

kk!

OpenStudy (lalaly):

i showed u how i got it, so hope it helps

OpenStudy (king):

yeah actually (a-b)^2 is same as (b-a)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It did help lalaly, thanks.

OpenStudy (lalaly):

:) anytime

OpenStudy (fj):

\[(5a)^{2}-(3b-c)^{2}\]
