simplify (3)/(x)+(13)/(x-11)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey you seem to be asking a lot of questions about the same topic. Is there something specific that you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah im trying to add and subtract rational expressions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this one, you need to multiply the expressions by whatever you need to get the same demoninator. Similar to 3/4 + 4/5 . So, what would you multiply the expression by?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply one by 4 and the other by 5 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, that's what you would do with my example. In this, you would make the denominator the same. So you want the denominator to be (x (x+11) )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Luke, I'm not getting the same answer as you. How did you solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry the answer is ((16x-33)/(x^2-11x))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, if it's truly simplified, you want to have it factored out. but, yes.
