OpenStudy (igloo3000):
wait
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
can you solve 1-4?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
No, you have to do them by yourself....i'm just helping.
OpenStudy (y2o2):
i'll solve the second
OpenStudy (y2o2):
2-
Slope = 1
Y-int = 0
Equation: y=x

OpenStudy (igloo3000):
how did you do it?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
as you can see, the st.line is passing throw (0,0)
this means that the y-int = 0
So the equation is "Y = aX"
choose any two points on the graph and substitute with them in the equation
let it be (2,2) for example:
2 = a * 2
so a = 1
so the equation is : "y = x"
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
can I solve one then see if I get it right?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
yeah , sure
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
thanks

OpenStudy (igloo3000):
wait the y-int that I learned was you always have to put 0 then the number
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
is the answer 1, (0,1), y=x+1?
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
for number 1
OpenStudy (y2o2):
No, that's wrong answer
OpenStudy (y2o2):
try again

OpenStudy (y2o2):
you can get they y-int by letting x=0
OpenStudy (y2o2):
y-int is the point of intersection between the St.line and the y-axis
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
is the slope correct?
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
what is not correct?
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
ohh I see

OpenStudy (y2o2):
no it's not
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
is the slope -4, the y-int (0, 3 1/2), and the equation y=-4x+ 3 1/2?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
actually , the graph is not so clear , so i considered the y-int as (0,3)
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
is everything else correct?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
the answer of no 1 will be:
Y-int = (0,3)
Slope = -3
Equation : "y = -3x+3"
*of course this answer is by considering the y-int is 3 not 3.5 or else

let's keep going!
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
number 3
OpenStudy (y2o2):
will you solve it ?!
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
yes

and you can check
OpenStudy (y2o2):
Ok, go on
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
ok
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
can you tell me the answer so I can check?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
no , you tell me your answer

OpenStudy (igloo3000):
ok
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
slope is 1
y-int is (0,-2)
equation is y=1x-2
OpenStudy (y2o2):
you got the y-int right, but you mistaken the slope
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
it's rise over run
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
found it

OpenStudy (igloo3000):
nope I haven't
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
how do you do slope? cause I know it's rise over run?
OpenStudy (y2o2):
yes it's, but in mathematical words...it's change y over the change of x
so you just pick any two points
e.g : (1,0) & (0,2) [i chose them to only ease the calculations]
so the slope = (\[(2-0) \over (1-0) \]
which is equal to -2
OpenStudy (y2o2):
sorry it's (0-2) not (2-0)
OpenStudy (igloo3000):
is that the answer to number 3 for the slope or is that an example?
