What figure is formed by the function f(x,y,z) = x^2 + y^2 + z^2? By the function f(x, y, z) = (x^2+y^2+z^2)^2?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

the figure formed by the function f(x,y,z) = x^2 + y^2 + z^2 is a sphere of center (0,0,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about the second function?

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

hoblos be careful....it could be sphere if he said that f(x, y,z)=some positive number (which gives you radius).....for example if that number is 4, than radius is 2, but if the number is 0 than it's a point in 3D

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yeah nenadmatematika is right!! i meant the general case this is an equation of a sphere..
