OpenStudy (tcp2315):

what is the formula for relativistic energy of an object? hence, what is the energy in MeV/c^2 of a 160 MeV/c a. electron, m=0.511 MeV/c^2 b. muon, m = 106 MeV/c^2 c. pion, m = 135 MeV/c^2 this is killing me haha, i dont understand the "of a 160 MeV/c"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MeV/c is a momentum. To answer your question, \[E = p^2c^2 + m^2c^4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is a unit of momentum*

OpenStudy (tcp2315):

yep, thanks, i figured it out eventually. appreciate the answer tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem . Also E^2, not E...I fail with the typos...;)
