But triple909, do you understand the distinctions now? Are you able to do these on your own? On that last sentence, the standard answer would be "that." In grammar texts, "who" is generally reserved for persons, although in common speech many of us do use "who" for our animals. (I know I do.)

Here is an easy way to remember that apply in most, if not all, situations: 1. If your subject is a person, use who/whom. 2. "Which" and "that" are often interchangeable. When you use 'that', do NOT precede it with a comma. When you use 'which' precede it with a comma. (Note: Only in these types of sentences) The industry has thrived in an economy that has shown little mercy on most businesses. OR The industry has thrived in an economy, which has shown little mercy on most businesses.
