can anyone suggest me a book regarding calculus.. i am totally now to this subject.. i am starting from scratch.. so someone please help me in suggesting a book that is introduction to calculus..

Everything I have studied thus far says that to be good a calculus you have to be good at 1) precalculus (most of calculus is actually algebra and arithmetic) with calculus at CERTAIN points and 2) study, study, study the "library functions" the 9 algebra functions, 6 trig functions, and Exponential and Logarithmic functions (especially the natural log ln ) Get a computer graphing utility and practice visualizing the functions mentioned above.

You can try Calculus, fourth edition by Frank Ayres, Jr. Elliott Mendelson. It has I, II, II and even Precalculus. I use it with my school book, Essential Calculus by James Stewart. But now I am using everying I get, including MIT Open Courseware.

I'd suggest Calculus 1 by James Stewart.

It's kind of easy to understand and starts from the very beggining, including a pre-calculus chapter.

If you want a book that approaches the subject less formally, I suggest "Calculus for the Utterly Confused" by Robert Oman & Daniel Oman and "Calculus Without Limits - Almost" by John C. Sparks.
