y = e^(6-4t^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

derivative

OpenStudy (turingtest):

the relevant derivatives are\[\frac d{dt}e^t=e^t\]\[\frac d{dt}(6-4t^2)=-8t\]and the chain rule is\[(f\circ g)'(t)=(f'\circ g)(t)\cdot g'(t)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got -8te^6-4t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that close?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean i dont get the point of e? e is just some random number

OpenStudy (turingtest):

yes, that's the right answer

OpenStudy (turingtest):

'e' is a number similar to pi. It is not random, just as pi as not random, but it's definition is a little more subtle than that of pi. in my opinion the best way to get an idea of what it means is to see the many different definitions of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_(mathematical_constant) If you continue in math you will find that this number mysteriously pops up again and again.

my homwwork said it was wrong, im asking my teacher tomorrw
