is this parallel,perdendicular or neither.......y=3x-2 and y=3x+2

Directrix (directrix):

Slopes are the same so they are parallel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you give me an example how to figure it out

Directrix (directrix):

Y = 3x -2 --> Slope is 3 Y = 3x + 2 ---> Slope is 3 Hold on and I'll get the graphs of these and the theorem.

Directrix (directrix):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx+c............. this is the slope intercept form of eq. m= slope. and c = y intercept........ in your ques.... m= 3 for both lines and different intercepts............. same slope means parallel lines... the distance between the lines is +2-(-2) = +4

Directrix (directrix):

Practice problems on slopes of parallel lines and answers (don't look at them :) http://www.clackamasmiddlecollege.org/documents/Parallel+and+Perpendicular+lines.pdf

Directrix (directrix):

If two nonvertical lines are parallel, then they have the same slope. If line l has slope 3/4, then (a) any line parallel to l has slope ___, and (b) any line perpendicular to l has slope ___. a. (a) 3/4 b. (b) −4/3
